Beneath Bruehl’s Terrace in Dresden, lies the Dresden Fortress, part of the fortifications built in the 16th century to protect the city. On behalf of the State Palaces, Castles and Gardens of Saxony (German: Staatliche Schlösser, Burgen und Gärten Sachsen), we have designed and implemented a unique and innovative multimedia permanent exhibition at the site called the Fortress Xperience, directly at the river Elbe.

About
500 years of the city’s history were brought to life in immersive 360° video projections across this 1,800m2 site. Visitors are not passive spectators here; instead, they become part of the history and stories themselves through tangible, audio-visual storytelling and can immerse themselves deeply in times gone by. The fortress itself is in the foreground as the main exhibit and becomes the canvas of its own history. With the help of a 45-minute audio play and specially composed music, the moving images become an emotional, cinematic space theatre. The Fortress Xperience is an innovative audio-visual experience that is absolutely unique in this form.
